The angioma is a benign tumor, usually congenital. It is generally harmless.
The majority of these angiomas in children disappear with the years. Sometimes, in some cases, the angioma extends and sometimes proliferates.
Angiomas skin comes in different forms, including strawberry, wine stains and the star.
The
Strawberry is a small red lesion with projection. The
wine stain (PWS) has a smooth appearance, it can spread and become darker with age. The strawberry and wine stain is usually present from birth.
The angioma
stellar (star) is present mainly in the face and is characterized by a red dot surrounded by very fine small vessels. We find the stellar angioma primarily in women whose skin is clear.
The main factors favoring the emergence of a stellar angiomas are tobacco, alcohol, pregnancy, certain medications and digestive disorders. This condition also can occur with liver disease such as cirrhosis.
For the stellar angiomas, treatment is to destroy the small vessels by electrocoagulation.
