Arteriosclerosis and Atherosclerosis

The arteriosclerosis is a disease of the arteries, contributing to it's hardening. It is a natural phenomenon usually associated with aging.

The atherosclerosis helps to accelerate the aging of arteries. This disease, affecting more men, often accompanies hypertension.

When atherosclerosis is complicated atherosclerotic plaques, it is atherosclerosis. Atheroma is a fattening grease (cholesterol) on the inner lining of arteries. The accumulation of fat on the wall slows the flow of blood.

Atherosclerosis evolves over several years. Unfortunately, it is often diagnosed only after a heart attack, pulmonary embolism or stroke among others.

Smoking, hypertension, obesity, diabetes, stress or a diet rich in fat are the causes of the complications of atherosclerosis.

Smoking cessation, healthy eating and physical activity are three important ways to reduce the risk of complications. The doctor assesses the intensity of physical activity by age and health status of the patient and prescribe medication if necessary.
