Autism

Autism is a behavioral disorder in children, characterized by loss of contact with the outside world (introversion). The autistic, to varying degrees, has no interest in his surroundings, speaks little, sometimes with words without meaning and is limited to few activities. Unless some common symptoms, the autistic are all different. Scientists suggest possible causes, but for now the cause of autism is unknown.

Autism is often accompanied by mental retardation, if we speak of a high functioning autism. The autistic 'top level' is able, with time to catch a near normal level, but retains some symptoms of autism. The autistic has at times of exceptional ability in one area. It is said that many scientists are autistic.

The first symptoms appear before the age of three and progress. The symptoms are sometimes difficult to detect, can be among others: indifference to persons and objects, repetitive movements, refusing to speak (out of a sound) or repeating always the same sound, fear of change. These are only clues, a child may have one or more of the symptoms and not be autistic. Conversely, the child can talk and be autistic.

There is no real cure for autism, but scientists argue that special attention (mass education, behavioral therapy) in autism very young (two years), can in some cases give good results.

Generally, a team of specialists evaluates the method of education appropriate to the child's personality. This method, followed by specialists and parents, is reviewed annually. Different approaches have been developed by scientists.

Rule number one: love your child. Rule number two: do not give up.
