Calorie

A calorie is a unit used, inter alia, to measure the amount of energy contained in food. The food energy absorbed by the human body is released during digestion and physical activity.

The human body needs energy for proper functioning of its organs for digestion and physical activities. The young and active adults need 3,000 calories per day. The sedentary adult needs 2,300 calories per day.

Physical activity eliminates calories. The fewer physical activities, the body requires less calories. Excess calories makes overweight. In addition to its beneficial effect on the muscles and breathing, physical activity is a simple way to spend the extra calories.

The flour, sugar and other refined products produce some empty calories, that is to say without vital substances to the body.
