Diabetes is characterized by an intense hunger and thirst and urination issue. The most common is diabetes mellitus.
Diabetes causes metabolic disorders. It can cause retinal detachment and blindness. A formidable complication of diabetes is gangrene of the lower limbs may require amputation. It may also be responsible for thrombosis. The risk of cardiovascular mortality is 2 to 4 times higher for a diabetic subject.
Diabetes mellitus type 1
When the pancreas does not produce the insulin needed for survival, it must administer insulin by injection. Type 1 is more common in children and adolescents and for 10 to 15% of diabetics.
Diabetes mellitus type 2
Occurs when the body is unable to provide enough insulin to meet the needs of the organization. This type of diabetes is controlled by a special diet, oral medication and exercise routine. It mainly affects adults.
