Gastritis

Gastritis is an inflammation of the lining of the stomach. The surface of the lining of the stomach is constantly moistened with mucus. The role of mucus is to absorb the acid secretion.

The main symptoms of gastritis are heartburn and indigestion. In some cases, the lining of the stomach bleeding, a little blood (brownish color) can be found in vomit and stools may be very dark.

Gastritis may be caused by certain medications (anti-inflammatory drugs, aspirin), alcohol abuse, poisoning, allergies, certain treatments, stress ...

A persistent gastritis (chronic) is usually due to overuse of regular alcohol, nicotine, certain medications or be a symptom of another disease such as gastroesophageal reflux.

When the cause is known, it is due mainly to the absorption of overeating or drinking alcohol, just remove the cause to cure. If the disease persists, you should consult a doctor.

If the gastritis is accompanied by severe pain, consult a doctor. The doctor may request to temporarily cease taking a drug, suggest antacids and supplements of certain vitamins and minerals. Smaller meals are suggested. Avoid fatty foods, cold cuts, fried, raw vegetables and other irritants.

A pain in the stomach is not necessarily gastritis. Only medical tests may make the diagnosis.
