A hernia is the name given to an organ going out of its cavity. It is usually caused by pressure exerted on the body wall (tissue) that surrounds it. The weakening of the tissues surrounding the body promotes the appearance of a hernia. Many hernias are asymptomatic.
Hernias occur mainly in the abdomen, groin and between the ribs. It can be a part of the stomach through the diaphragm via the path of the esophagus. This may be the intestine makes its way to the groin or uses only crossing blood vessels.
Sometimes a hernia in the stomach causes severe pain by allowing the release of acid into esophagus.
A hernia in the groin may reveal prominence during physical exertion. The mass disappears in the supine position. Consulting a doctor is required when the hurt remains, when pain is felt or there is vomiting.
Hernias can be corrected by simple surgery. The medical world considers the truss ineffective and even harmful in some cases.
