Horton's headache

The headaches are characterized extreme pain felt on one side of the head. The headache is more painful than a migraine.

Untreated, the crisis lasts 15 to 180 minutes and can occur once a week or several times a day. Horton's headache is called episodic when there is a remission of at least one month between each period of crisis. The remission lasted several months. It is chronic in less than 15% of cases.

Inhaling oxygen (oxygen) provides relief in 75% of cases. To be effective, this treatment should be performed early in the crisis. Drugs cons of headache do not bring any relief.

A drug to regulate blood pressure is sometimes effective in the treatment of headaches. Other medications are sometimes prescribed by the neurologist.
