Hyperacusis
Hyperacusis is a rare disorder characterized by hearing an excessive sensitivity to sound and noise. The sounds are perceived as being strong and unpleasant.
The cause is usually unknown. This could include a former exposure to excessive noise or side effect of medication. Hyperacusis can also be a symptom of a disease like migraine.
The symptoms include pain hyperacusis hearing, sometimes intolerable, when there is noise. In the silence, tinnitus * can occur and last for some time. In the long term, this dysfunction can cause anxiety and lead to isolate the affected person.
Insulate the world to avoid all the noise is not the solution. Silence may lead to an amplification effect of spontaneous (the brain equates silence with a hearing loss). Avoid noisy places, promote calm atmosphere where the sound is very intense and enjoyable.
There is no treatment to treat hyperacusis.
