Laryngitis is an irritation of vocal cords or larynx infections caused by viruses or bacteria.
If the person has a fever, feels widespread pain and sore throat, it is probably a viral or bacterial infection.
Irritation string occurs for example after having shouted, sang and smoked all night. The vocal cords swell up causing the extinction of the voice. Two types: acute laryngitis and chronic laryngitis.
Acute laryngitis is hoarseness or loss of voice felt the morning after an evening where the strings were very angry. The symptom is fading fast resting his voice and not smoking.
Chronic laryngitis lasts several days and resurfaced periodically. This type of laryngitis is caused by too much exposure to smoke, dust and sometimes by singers. It can also be caused by an allergy.
Resting of the voice and breathing in steam is usually enough to heal irritation of the vocal cords. If symptoms persist after five days or if fever is present, consult a doctor. When is a viral or bacterial infection, antibiotic use may be suggested by the doctor.
It is advisable to drink plenty of fluids and ensure adequate moisture in the air.
If it is an infection, do not transmit. An effective trick is to sneeze into the elbow rather than hand. Wash your hands regularly. Keep a safe distance between you and a visitor, especially a frail visitor.
