Plants that heal



For a long time, magic and medicine have remained inseparable in the popular imagination. Today, the medical dependency become almost total. However, three quarters of the drugs are still derived from plants. 1

The oldest medical treatise of the world is Sumerian 2 . 4 000 years old, it sets out the procedures to make remedies by spraying or infusion of more than 30 plants.

At the beginning of the XVth century, Paracelsus began to extract the essence plants through distillation.

In the fifteenthth century, nutmeg, cloves. ginger and cinnamon from Asia were regarded as medicinal food.

Paracelsus, Swiss alchemist and physician father of medicine sealed 3 , he developed a doctrine which matches the outside world (macrocosm) 4 with different parts of the human body (microcosm) 5 .*

Lavoisier, scholar, one of the founders of modern chemistry, he discovered the composition of air and water, the role of oxygen in combustion and respiration .*
