Presbytie

Presbyopia is a vision disorder characterized by the blurring of an object looked closely or by reading. Presbyopia is caused by normal aging of the eye. There are no exercises or how to prevent presbyopia.

The lens of the eye adjusts automatically to the distance viewed by bending more or less. As we age, the lens becomes less flexible, making the adjustment more difficult, even impossible. By aging process begins after the age of forty and stabilizes around sixty.

Presbyopia is corrected by using glasses. It can be eyeglasses or contact lenses. The lens must be replaced regularly to adjust to the aging of the eye. There are glasses that are only for reading up close and that we withdraw twenty times a day. There are bifocals or progressive lens glasses. Like eyeglasses, contact lenses can be progressive. It takes some getting used to, some do not.

Unlike some other disorders of vision, myopia, for example, laser treatment is not satisfactory.

A person will also become myopic presbyopic with age. It seems however that myopia may improve slightly in the onset of presbyopia.

Read without using glasses will not harm the eyes. If you are unable to read and it tires you, pick up glasses.
