Purpura

Purpura is a condition characterized by red spots, called petechiae. The rash is due to small leakage of blood resulting from the rupture of capillaries in the dermis.

Small patches of bright red or bluish first gradually become brown. Do not be confused with the bruise (dark blue) caused by trauma.

The purpura is caused for example by a vascular problem or a clotting problem.

Purpura may be inflammatory or not. It may accompany a disease such as cirrhosis or uremia.

Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura of the child is characterized at the onset of the disease by bleeding from the nose, spots on the skin, blood in the urine.

Rheumatoid purpura, is allergic origin, particularly affecting children. The main symptoms are pain in the ankles and knees, accompanied by small red spots. It should allow 4 to 6 weeks for full recovery. Recurrences can occur in the following months.
