Salmonellosis

Salmonellosis is a bacterial infection caused by bacteria called Salmonella. The bacterium is usually transmitted to humans through contaminated food. Salmonella is lodged in the intestines of animals such as birds or pigs. All foods, even fruit, can be contaminated by an animal. Typhoid fever is a very serious form of salmonella.

When the bacteria in sufficient numbers, survive in the stomach, they go to the intestines where they multiply. They cause inflammation of the intestines and produce toxins, triggering diarrhea.

The symptoms of salmonellosis are diarrhea usually abdominal cramps and, sometimes accompanied by fever. The symptoms occurred 12-72 hours after infection and last from 4 to 7 days. Since diarrhea dehydration, drink plenty.

Precautions to avoid salmonella include regularly washing hands, washing fruits and vegetables and avoid raw meat and raw eggs. In 90% of cases, bacteria come from meat, dairy and eggs. The cooking is enough to destroy the bacteria, freezing can stop the growth of bacteria, but does not kill bacteria.

An infected child touches a reptile (turtle's favorite), and then put their fingers in their mouths, they do not need more. A study has explained the cause of an epidemic: children have touched the fence that separated them from exotic animals, but the fence was infected.
