Schizophrenia is a mental illness which particularly affects young adults. Without impairing the intelligence, it manifests itself in different ways by hallucinations, delusions or disruption of logic. The disease affects about 1% of the population.
Schizophrenia may be genetic, which is not yet proven. The intense stress could be a trigger for the disease or contribute to a relapse in the schizophrenic.
It alleviates the symptoms of the disease by antipsychotic medication. The immediate surroundings of schizophrenia may help by removing the causes of relapse when known.
Schizophrenia occurs in various forms ranging from simple schizophrenia with psychopathic schizophrenia. The simple schizophrenic has difficulty coping with stress and a tendency to isolation, but do not have really delusional symptoms. In contrast, the schizophrenic psychopath can commit very violent acts and reflect a greater emotional coldness.
