Stress is the set of physiological and psychological symptoms experienced by an individual facing an unusual situation, pleasant or not. The main symptoms are the onset of sweating, a feeling of anxiety and sleep disorders.
The increased rate of respiration in response to temporary stress is often a normal reaction to oxygenate the body better. However, if the stress persists (endless stress caused by work), complications arise (overwork, burnout) and lead to a stoppage of work due to illness. Returning to work in the same conditions as before will result more or less with the same long-term complications.
Several forms of stress are usually temporary and harmless. Organize a party, from traveling or the birth of a child are happy events, but stressful for some. The loss of a loved one (or employment) leads the individual in a period of great stress, which disappears with time.
Burnout
The difference between burnout (burnout) and stress can be explained as follows: symptoms and causes are reversed.
The symptoms of burnout are emotional (depression) and the causes are physical (overwork, burnout).
Symptoms of stress are mostly physical (sweating, trouble sleeping) and causes mainly psychological (anxiety, fear) or beyond our control (loss of a loved one, divorce).
Generally, burnout is caused by the individual himself, while stress is caused by an environment (pleasant or not) to which the individual does not fit or take some time to adapt.
