Tendinitis is the inflammation of a tendon usually caused by repetitive motion, overexertion or injury.
The tendon is a band of fibrous tissue that connect very resistant muscle to bone.
Repetitive movements are such prolonged use of the computer mouse or a line work in an assembly plant. The tennis players and pianists are often affected, especially the elbows. Knitting may be the cause of tendonitis wrists. Tendinitis can sometimes be caused by a disease such as gout or diabetes.
Tendinitis most frequently occur in the shoulders, elbows and hands. Generally tendonitis is more common among middle-aged or older;
tendons have lost their elasticity over time.
The pain is felt when the muscle tendon affected is used. This is a sharp pain like an electric shock.
The inflammation usually disappears after a rest and analgesics to relieve pain. It may be necessary to hold the joint in a splint to ensure complete rest of the tendon. Some more severe cases of tendinitis requires injecting steroids.
We must avoid repeating the same repetitive actions that caused the tendonitis. At work, it is necessary to apply a rotational post, which would be an asset for all. The employer must be aware of the problem and seek to eliminate the repetition of movements.
