Vomiting



Vomiting is the involuntary expulsion of stomach contents. The causes are multiple: poisoning, overeating, heavy drinking, stomach ulcer, certain medications, intense physical activity, pregnancy, gastritis and other diseases.

In addition to the contents of the stomach (the last meal), part of the discharge may contain bile from the duodenum (first part of the small intestine). Bile is a viscous liquid, taste bitter, secreted by the liver and released into the duodenum during digestion.

Vomiting isolated containing only food and not being accompanied by other symptoms are usually mild and requires no treatment.
